October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month!

The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (2011) has designated the week beginning with the first Monday in October as a “Week of Respect” in New Jersey schools. This year, Week of Respect will be observed from October 1st through the 5th, but we will be celebrating with activities and assemblies during the whole month of October! Activities planned at Connecticut Farms include:

School Spirit Days!

Monday, Oct 1st: BLUE SHIRT DAY – Wear a blue shirt and join us in recognizing      World Day of Bullying Prevention – together, let’s stop bullying and cyberbullying!
Tuesday, Oct 2nd: PUT A CAP ON BULLYING – Wear your favorite hat!
Wednesday, Oct 3rd: BEING A GOOD FRIEND IS NO SWEAT – Wear your comfiest sweats to school!
Thursday, Oct 4th: WE APPRECIATE THE DIFFERENCES AMONG US – Wear your most mismatched clothes!
Friday, Oct 5th: TEAM UP AGAINST BULLYING – Wear a shirt or jersey for your favorite sports team!

Wednesday, October 24th is our District Unity Day - Wear Orange:  Everyone can come together and show that we are united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

1st Annual CFES Door Decorating Contest: Each classroom will decorate their door illustrating the theme “Be a Buddy, Not a Bully.” The winning class will receive a pizza party, courtesy of our PTA! All students will receive a “Be a Buddy” necklace.

Classroom Lessons: During the month of October, students will participate in classroom lessons on topics such as respect, kindness, and being an “upstander.”

Respect Notes: parents & family members fill out notes for their children at Open House on why they respect them, and they will be delivered to students in school.

Respect Topic of the Day: Bulletin boards & morning announcements to discuss ways that we can demonstrate respect toward others, our school, and the environment.

Assemblies: School-wide programs include the “Beyond the Laces” assembly on kindness, “The Power of One” anti-bullying assembly, and “The NED Show.”
